Throwback Thursday - The Video Edition: Another banned video...

For last week's Throwback Thursday - The Video Edition I shared Dire Straights "Money For Nothing" which thanks to some questionable lyrics has been banned in a variety of media outlets.

This week, I decided to share another video which was banned by MTV. Danger Danger's "Monkey Business". The video was banned due to some 'inappropriate' actions shared between the scantily clad woman and the 'ape' in the video. Both characters representing living versions of the characters that appeared on the album cover (seen below). Art work which was done by an artist who also did work for Disney...

The video itself is fairly tame compared to today's standards, but back in the early 90's this was too much for MTV...but not too much for MuchMusic, as I got to see the video on the Power Hour. The album and the track were highly anticipated and it has often been debated (between me and some other Danger Danger fans) that if the video wouldn't have been banned, would the single have done better on the charts or was this just another victim of the growing Seattle scene at the time...
